Travel Week

  • Founded and directed by Dr. Shon Dickson, A Global Perspective is a 501(c)(3) organization led by educators, marketing and entertainment professionals, clergy, and others committed to increasing the cultural and global awareness of teenagers from underserved communities. Our heart is to give the transformative gift of travel to expand and shape their hearts and minds. We Currently serve the Atlanta Metro area, with the high hopes of expanding to all 50 states.

  • It’s a simple concept. We give a chance for youth who may never leave their city — to tour the world. When we are not leading teams of 10-12 students through the jungles and highways across the globe, we are hosting pre-travel activities. We find that when we introduce our students to the cultures, histories, and geography of their destination first, their excitement and education makes for a vibrant experience and global awareness: which is the heart of what we do.

  • A Global Perspective relies on the generosity of individuals and companies. Students participate in fundraisers and other events that contribute to the costs of these trips; however, it is the generosity of our supporters that help us achieve our goals. Won’t you help us?

  • Students between the ages of 15 and 18 from underserved urban communities can apply to participate in our programs. Some trips will allow students as young as 13 to travel with us, but these are special occasions. Program scholarships are only made available to students who demonstrate financial need.

  • A Global Perspective’s vision is to raise teens from low-income families in underserved urban communities to become community, national, and global leaders by increasing their personal and academic development and enhancing their cultural and global awareness via meaningful travel experiences.
